Bioi Design + Build

The Hearn House occupies a site in Edmonton's river valley — a landscape defined by dramatic topography, mature vegetation, and a quality of light and air that distinguishes it sharply from the surrounding urban fabric. The plan follows the contours of the site, stepping gently in section to reduce the apparent scale of the building and allow each primary living space to settle at a different relationship to the grade.

The material palette is drawn from the palette of the valley itself: warm tones, natural textures, and a restrained use of glazing that frames the best views without exhausting them. The Hearn House is designed for long-term occupation — a place that will deepen in its relationship to its landscape over time.
